Folk implosion is probably best known for two things: being Lou Barlow(of Sebadoh fame)'s sideproject and for having a surprise top 40 hit with a song that appeared on the Kids soundtrack. What most of you probably dont know (or have forgotten) is that they did an awesome remix of a Serge Gainsbourgh song. If you dont know how rad that guy is, hes got a song that translates to "Requiem for a Cunt" and hes the dirtiest frenchman to ever score more gash than he can handle. If that alone doesnt make you want to find out more about him then you have no business here.

This is a great record with a good mix of dream pop and psych rock. This album was critically acclaimed when it came out but still never seemed to gain widespread popularity and now they seem to have disappeared. If you like bands like the warlocks, moccassin, black angels etc you'll dig this.

So this is australias next big thing? Well at least its not Little Birdie or Jet or overly screenprinted shirts. But something keeps bugging me about these guys.. no its not the afro....that "woman" track is pretty dope... i just cant seem to shake the feeling that im listening to Jack White sing shitty prog songs. Wait.. Im at the Apple Tree track now.. now theyre just being blatent. did they just say "fuck it. lets toss this one in and see if anyone notices." I mean its so out of place with the rest of the record. It sounds like a stripes b side. why the hell is this song here.

The Outsiders

The Outsiders, from Amsterdam, released this self titled album in 1967.Its pretty raw and some of the tracks are live. At times they sound kinda like a punked up Pretty Things. The first half is pretty forgettable but once you get to the track Filthy Rich things start to pick up. If you like 60's garage rock like the Seeds you'll probably dig this. check it out.
